Production services, location scouting, and vetted BECTU crew for USA and European productions filming in Scotland. One call sorts it all.
Selected Production Credits
Scotland doesn't look like anywhere else.
That's precisely the point.
If you're a line producer, EP, or production coordinator bringing a project to Scotland. I'm the person you want on the other end of the phone.
I've spent over a decade building production on the ground in Scotland. I know the Highlands inside out, have vetted BECTU crew relationships across the country, and have navigated everything from Highland weather shutdowns to last-minute council permit escalations.
Not a big agency. One number to call, with a trusted team behind it. I stay close to every production and I'm always reachable when something needs sorting. Scotland is home base, but we work across the UK. TVCs for Cadbury and Bank of Scotland. Music videos for Ed Sheeran and Phoebe Bridgers. Campaigns for Lululemon across the Isle of Skye.
From Edinburgh's cobblestone closes to the raw cinematic landscapes of the Highlands and Isle of Skye. Locations sourced and recce'd to brief, with full access permissions, risk assessment and detailed scout reports.
Ongoing relationships with Scotland's best crew. DOPs, camera operators, lighting and grip, sound, art department, hair and makeup, and casting. BECTU-registered. Production-tested. International productions catered for.
Navigating Scottish council permit processes, NatureScot access for remote Highland locations, road closures, and Historic Environment Scotland for castle and heritage shoots. All red tape handled so your team can focus on making great work.
For international productions needing a dedicated on-the-ground production partner from pre-production through wrap. Budgeting, scheduling, vendor management, accommodation, catering, and transport, one reliable point of contact throughout.
Scotland offers some of the most dramatic and diverse landscapes on the planet, in a compact, logistically manageable country. From medieval Edinburgh to the raw wilderness of the Outer Hebrides, you can shoot multiple worlds in a single week.
The UK's film and television production incentives make Scotland genuinely compelling for international productions on a financial level too. The UK Film Tax Credit and High-End TV Relief are among the most competitive globally, and all spend in Scotland qualifies.
Combine that with a deep, experienced crew base built on decades of Hollywood blockbusters and international commercial production, and you're not compromising on talent to get the scenery.
Highlands, Islands, Lochs, Coasts, Castles, Moors, all within a day's drive of Edinburgh. Scotland's variety of terrain and light is unrivalled in Europe.
Scotland has hosted major Hollywood productions for decades. The crew base, camera, sound, lighting, art, is experienced, professional, and used to international standards.
GMT/BST puts Edinburgh in a sweet spot, accessible to US East Coast mornings and European working hours simultaneously. When you call, I pick up.
Scotland has well-developed film permitting pathways and a production-friendly culture. Screen Scotland actively supports international co-productions arriving in the country.
For US and EU productions, favourable GBP exchange rates combined with generous UK tax credits make Scotland one of the most cost-effective destinations in Europe.
Whether you're a month out or two weeks from your shoot date, the process is the same, fast, clear, and built around your production's needs.
Share your dates, locations in mind, crew requirements, budget ballpark, and any specific needs. The more detail the better, the faster I can move. A WhatsApp works just as well as a call sheet.
I confirm receipt, ask the key questions, and give you an honest read on what's possible, timeline, locations, budget, crew. Usually within a few hours, always within 24.
Location options with scout photos and access notes. Crew quotes confirmed. Permits applied for. Budget structured for your finance team. Everything in writing, no surprises.
I'm there on shoot day, managing logistics, solving problems before you see them, and making sure your director and DP can focus entirely on the work.
Everything a line producer, EP, or production coordinator needs to know before committing budget to a Scotland shoot, from planning timelines to tax credits, permits to crew.
For TVCs and music videos, 3–5 weeks gives enough lead time to scout, permit, and crew up. For larger productions with remote Highland locations or extensive HES or NatureScot permissions, 8–14 weeks is the realistic window.
The single biggest mistake international productions make is underestimating Scottish permit lead times. Council permits and NatureScot agreements for sensitive sites like the Quiraing can take 2–3 weeks alone, start earlier than you think you need to.
Scotland's light is extraordinary, but seasonal. May through September gives the longest shooting days, with golden hour extending past 10pm in midsummer. The flat, even light of overcast Scottish skies is particularly prized for fashion and beauty work.
Autumn (October–November) delivers dramatic moody skies, heather in full purple bloom, and rich amber tones that are impossible to replicate in post. Winter shooting is possible and visually stunning, but factor in 7–8 hour shooting days and accessibility challenges for remote Highland locations.
Scotland operates under distinct land access legislation. The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 grants general access rights, but commercial filming is explicitly excluded, permits are required regardless of location. Key authorities: NatureScot (remote Highland and protected landscapes), Historic Environment Scotland (castle and heritage sites), and local councils for road usage and public spaces.
The permitting culture in Scotland is generally production-friendly, particularly through Screen Scotland's network. Most permits are granted; the key is applying correctly, early, and with the right documentation.
The UK's Independent Film Tax Credit (IFTC) offers qualifying productions up to 53% relief on UK core expenditure. High-End TV productions (£1m+ per broadcast hour) qualify for HETV Relief of up to 39%. All spend on Scottish crew, locations, equipment, accommodation, catering, and services counts as UK-qualifying expenditure.
For US productions, a UK co-production treaty can broaden access to these incentives. The minimum UK spend threshold is £1.5m for film. Scotland's combination of favourable exchange rates for USD and EUR budgets, plus tax relief, makes it one of the most cost-effective locations in Europe for international shoots.
Scotland's crew base is deep and international-standard, built on decades of hosting Hollywood features and global commercial productions. DOPs, camera operators (Arri, RED, Sony, all formats), lighting and grip, sound, art department, hair and makeup, wardrobe, and casting are all available locally. Most senior crew are BECTU-registered.
Equipment houses in Edinburgh and Glasgow stock current-generation camera packages, lighting rigs, and grip. For specialist equipment, London houses offer next-day delivery. Drone operators with CAA permissions for Scotland's restricted airspace are available through our crew network.
Edinburgh Airport connects directly to New York JFK, Dublin, Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, and most major European hubs. Glasgow Airport handles further transatlantic and long-haul routes. Both cities sit within 2–3 hours of most Highland filming locations by road.
Accommodation in Edinburgh and Glasgow is plentiful. For Skye and remote Highland locations, quality accommodation is limited in peak season, book early, or factor in a base camp approach with a production vehicle fleet. We manage all transport logistics including airport runs, production vehicles, and catering.
International productions often have the same questions. Here are the ones that come up most often, from US and EU line producers, EPs, and coordinators planning their first Scotland shoot.
Most filming on the Isle of Skye requires permission from the landowner and in some cases a NatureScot access agreement, particularly for sensitive sites like the Quiraing and Old Man of Storr. Road-based filming may also require Highland Council permits.
The good news is Scotland has well-established permit routes for all these locations and we manage the entire process on your behalf, including NatureScot, landowner agreements, and any necessary road closure notices.
The UK Film Tax Credit (IFTC) offers qualifying films up to 53% on UK-qualifying expenditure. For US productions shooting in Scotland, all spend on UK crew, locations, equipment and services qualifies. The minimum UK core expenditure threshold is £1.5m.
High-End TV productions (budget above £1m per broadcast hour) can access HETV Relief of up to 39%. All Scotland spend fully qualifies. We can connect you with accredited UK accountants who handle the BFI certification process.
May through September offers the best conditions, long golden-hour days, lower rainfall, and access to remote locations. June and July light is extraordinary: blue hour runs late into the evening. Autumn gives dramatic moody skies and rich colour.
Winter filming is visually stunning but requires more planning for short daylight windows and access to some remote sites. Every season has its look, the right choice depends on the brief.
Yes. Scotland has a strong BECTU-registered crew base with experience across TVCs, music videos, feature films, and high-end TV drama. We maintain ongoing relationships with Scotland's best DOPs, camera operators, lighting and grip, sound, art department, hair and makeup, and casting.

The sooner the better, particularly for Highland or remote island locations where permits and accommodation book up quickly. For TVCs and music videos, 2–4 weeks minimum is ideal. For larger productions, 6–12 weeks gives us the best options.
That said, we've turned around urgent shoots in under a week. Don't let timeline concerns stop you reaching out, whatever stage you're at, call us.
